Working alongside Murray River Council, our planners led a robust and inclusive engagement process. Why? Because plans only work when they’re grounded in real lives and local aspirations. From the outset, we set out to make engagement meaningful—not a tick-the-box exercise. That meant early conversations, open forums, and creative workshops designed to spark ideas and uncover what matters most.
We hosted community sessions at familiar places like the Moulamein Bowling Club, walked the streets with locals to see opportunities firsthand, and even brought future-thinking activities into schools. Online surveys, drop-in sessions, and design charrettes gave everyone—from business owners to young families—a chance to shape the plan. Every comment, every idea was captured and analysed to ensure the final Masterplan and Action Plan truly reflects community priorities.
The Masterplan
The Masterplan sets the stage for Moulamein’s growth over the next 20 years. It’s a blueprint for physical improvements within a 1km radius of the town centre—think upgraded streetscapes, better connectivity, and spaces that invite people to linger and connect.
The plan balances ambition with practicality, ensuring that development enhances the town’s character rather than erasing it. From housing diversity to improved public spaces, the Masterplan provides a clear, actionable framework for Council and the community to work toward together.
Design & Cultural Sensitivity
If the Masterplan is the “what,” the Community Action Plan is the “how.” It translates big-picture goals into tangible steps—actions that community members can see, feel, and participate in. This plan is built on trust and collaboration, and as IAP2-certified practitioners, we followed international best practice in engagement. That means transparency, inclusivity, and a genuine commitment to listening.
The CAP prioritises initiatives that matter most to locals: enhancing recreation opportunities, supporting arts and culture, and protecting the natural environment. It’s a living document designed to evolve as the community does.
The Outcome
For us, this project is a perfect example of what we stand for: collaboration, transparency, and building trust through genuine engagement. Because when communities feel heard, great things happen—and that’s exactly what this plan sets out to deliver.
